The 8th Annual Survivors' Luncheon was an incredible event. Check out the gallery to view some of the photos taken by Waiters Photography. Our goal each year is to encourage survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, raise awareness, provide resources, and make new connections. Praise God. Mission accomplished. There were 110 in attendance as we kicked off Mother’s Day weekend. There were advocates from the Family Place, Hagar’s Heart, All Women Marching for Hope, DeSoto Domestic Violence Advisory Commission, WCM Cares, Genesis Women's Shelter & Support, ARISE, Int'l, We Are Survivors, Relationships Godstyle, and the Genesis Alliance Group. In addition, there were guests from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office and the DA's office, and new friends like Dr. Lavinia Masters and WFAA Reporter Shaun Rabb. Anthony and Arminda Grissett (McDonald’s Owner/Operators) were the Raffle Sponsor this year. There were several vendors in attendance too. The Luncheon was dedicated in memory of Advocate Carolyn J. Hudson, Founder of Silent Screams she left for Heaven on December 30, 2023. It was wonderful to be together with survivors and those who advocate for them and remember Carolyn.
Special thanks to Sheriff Marian Brown, Keynote Speaker as she defined what it means to be a survivor and she shared a powerful compelling story of survival. She was amazing. Also, special thanks to Dr. Renee Fowler Hornbuckle for stepping in as Emcee, Celeste Gardiner (Musical Guest), and for four Expert Panelist (Dr. Lavinia Masters, Pastor Denise Wolford, Jennifer Jones, and Christe Johnson). The Courage Award was given to Dr. Lavinia Masters, Gwendolyn Jones, and Debra Nixon-Bowles for their incredible work over the years to help survivors heal. Sheriff Brown received our Hero Award for her Incredible work and advocacy in Crime Prevention, ultimately, keeping Dallas County citizens safe.
Finally, the event would not have been as successful without the help of the following people: Darryl Hillard, Vivian Kemp, Shirley Hurd, Parmella Miles, Shenese Giles, Theresa Little, Chris Harris, and Derrick Waiters. Annie's Gifts of Love Charitable Foundation Inc., will continue “to do good works, by God's grace, for His glory and the benefit of others.” Join us in the fight when you give. So many are blessed by the support and connections you provide to hurting women caught up in domestic violence! What you do is urgently needed! Keep up the God ordained work that you are doing in making our women aware of help, support, deliverance, and rescue through so many agencies by God's grace!"

Special thanks to DeSoto Mayor Rachel Proctor for written words of welcome and inspiration that reminded us that the fight cannot be done by one entity. It is something that needs the support of the entire community. As written in her letter, in the words of Henry Ford, "Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success?" Thanks for standing with us to help eradicate domestic violence one survivor at a time. To God be the glory!
