It was an honor to host the 4th Annual Survivors' Luncheon on May 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Duncanville, TX. This is our way of helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and other non-profit agencies that touch these issues. God was glorified and we were inspired as the Honorable Faith Johnson shared snapshots of her journey with power and passion, and Dena Crecy, Sara Nejdl, Gwendolyn Jones, Silk LittleJohn, and Haroldlyn Murray (all advocates for survivors) shared their amazing work in the community to provide help, hope and healing for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. In addition, special thanks to Sharon Hill, Celeste Gardiner, and the following volunteers: Lisa Brown, Shenese Giles, and Majeedah Murad for their impeccable service during the luncheon. It was a great day. Let us continue to do good works, by God's grace, for His glory and for the benefit of others.
3rd Annual Survivors' Luncheon
God blessed our event with ninety-nine attendees. It was a great day to honor the memory of my mother, Annie and honor survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking as Dr. Renee Hornbuckle shared her amazing testimony. You had to be there to grasp the moment. It was amazing. Dr. Renee is a survivor who is fulfilling her purpose and she helps others to fulfill theirs. She was so transparent. Below are a few more pictures that captured the event. If you attended we thank you for coming. If you did not attend, but supported the event in other ways, we are grateful for you too. Thanks for standing with us. To God be the glory!
2nd Annual Survivors' Luncheon
We praise the Lord for the stunning success of the 2nd Annual Survivors' Luncheon sponsored by Annie's Gifts of Love Charitable Foundation. We had a diverse group from across the metroplex who came together to hear and be inspired by Sr. News Reporter Rebecca Lopez of WFAA Channel 8 News as she shared her amazing testimony of survival, and the impact she has had in raising awareness of domestic violence. In addition, we featured six Advocates (Gwen Jones, Wanda McKinley, Robin Harris, Anna Marie Peterson, Sarah Nejdl, and Debra Bowles) who informed the audience about their ministry to survivors and the tremendous need to build a shelter in the southern section of Dallas county. Survivors were inspired and empowered. Special thanks to Sharon Hill our Emcee and all participants. Let us continue to break the silence. Below, are photos from the luncheon.
